Cold Reading Flashcards

Here’s an interesting little item: Cold Reading Electronic Flashcards. It’s a piece of software (for Windows users) that gives readings at the touch of a button, very useful if you give readings over the phone or online.

From the page:

Cold Reading Flashcards Description

"Become a mind-reading artist! Blend a rich tapestry of your clients’ past, present, and future into fortune-telling/mentalist masterpieces."
Imagine possessing the ability to read anybody’s mind - and blowing their minds with your accuracy. Now also imagine having the skill to give perfect readings to anybody without having to study the methods."

That seems a bit strong to me, but it’s less than $10, so definitely worth a look.

Here’s the link if you’re interested: Cold Reading Flashcards.

Pacing the Sitter’s Current Experience

An excellent way to start a reading is to use this Ericksonian hypnotic language pattern to buildrapport and make your sitters more suggestible. All you have to do is mention two or three obvious facts and then give a suggestion or have them step into a state you’d like them to experience. Like this:

• "You’re sitting here looking at the cards, you’re listening to me speak, you wonder if I have good news or bad news, and you’re starting to feel really curious."

• "We’re both staring into the crystal, you are quite comfortable, and you can relate to everything I say easily."

• "You came to this fair with an open mind, you chose to come to my booth, I’m sitting here looking at your palms, and I see you will be very pleased with this reading."

• "You called this psychic hotline because you needed some help, and now you’re talking to me, and you’re ready to accept what I say."
As you can see, the great thing about this powerful language pattern is it’s very easy to use.

You can also use this pattern to wrap up a reading. "We’ve looked at the spread and talked about your life, we saw that you had a fairly happy childhood, that you have some problems now that you’ll soon get over, and you’ll have a brighter future very soon."

How to do a Cold Reading in the Next Few Minutes

Here’s how you can get started right away with coldreading, this method doesn’t need practice (although it helps). The term for this type of reading is called Psychometry.
1. Get your subject to give you one of her personal items, like a ring, keys, pen, etc.
2. Hold it in your outstretched hand and close your eyes
3. Let the first image that pops into your head be your start. Perhaps it’s a white door.
4. Tell your subject that you’re getting a white door. Ask her what meaning it has. Give her a couple of seconds to scan her memory for any meaning.

One of two things will happen: she’ll say yes or she’ll say no.

If she says yes, add on to what she says. For example, if she says that is the color of the front door of her parent’s house start talking about her parents in generalities, use generalities that would apply to any person her age.

For a younger lady you could say, “You’ve had some ups and downs with your relationship with your parents.

For an older lady you could tell her that she is concerned about her parent’s health.

Take the generalities of someone you know in your own life (in the above examples of a younger lady and an older ladycase use your sister or your mother) and apply them to your reading. If the person is like no one else in your life, take the generalities in your life and use them.

These generalities work because we tend to take a positive generalization and make it true for us – just like it’s done in the daily horoscope.

What if they say no?

If the subject says no, a white door doesn’t mean anything to them. Say that it is a symbol for something that is important in their life. “I see the door and it’s closed. This means that for the time being what you are looking for life is not available to you. You’ll have to open the door yourself – find the key first.

What if I don’t get any images?
That’s highly unlikely. The mind doesn’t like a vacuum. Trust your intuition – it works. But if it really is the case, you can just make up an image.

Use something that has lots of ambiguous meanings. Things like a piece of paper, a book, a tree, a tall man can all have plenty of meanings attached to them, making you look like a star when you start interpreting them.

I’m seeing a piece of paper, in your possession. I can’t make out what it says on it…

As I’ve said, people will fill in the blanks themselves but it makes you look like a psychic genius.

If you do run out of things to say (but you won’t if you refer to this blog often), just tell them the object you are holding has gone cold and that you need a different object or even a different person to do a reading on.

Try it yourself now, grab any old object lying around, and….

“I see….

1. A big house.”
2. A knife.”
3. A dog.”
4. A phone book.”
5. A beach.”

The nice thing about using Psychometry is that you can do it anywhere, and if you’ve never tried it before, you’ll notice images and things to say will pop into your mind spontaneously.

I Knew You Were Coming to This Cold Reading Blog

Thanks for visiting this site. However, I knew you were going to arrive here eventually. You’re the type of curious person I’ve been looking for: you think the cold reading techniques used by John Edward and Sylvia Brown are shite, just crap-shoots in the dark.

You can be impressed with guys like Derren Brown. I know you’ve been finding cold reading a little bit difficult - there are so many lines to memorize, so many things to pay attention to. . .

This blog will show you how to master the cold reading techniques that will amaze friends and strangers alike. It will show you how easy it is to mesmerize people your pyschic abilities. . .and even put some money in your pocket!

Please bear with me though. I am a busy person, like most of you. I’m just learning how to use this blogging platform so posts will be slow in coming at first.
