How to do a Cold Reading in the Next Few Minutes

Here’s how you can get started right away with coldreading, this method doesn’t need practice (although it helps). The term for this type of reading is called Psychometry.
1. Get your subject to give you one of her personal items, like a ring, keys, pen, etc.
2. Hold it in your outstretched hand and close your eyes
3. Let the first image that pops into your head be your start. Perhaps it’s a white door.
4. Tell your subject that you’re getting a white door. Ask her what meaning it has. Give her a couple of seconds to scan her memory for any meaning.

One of two things will happen: she’ll say yes or she’ll say no.

If she says yes, add on to what she says. For example, if she says that is the color of the front door of her parent’s house start talking about her parents in generalities, use generalities that would apply to any person her age.

For a younger lady you could say, “You’ve had some ups and downs with your relationship with your parents.

For an older lady you could tell her that she is concerned about her parent’s health.

Take the generalities of someone you know in your own life (in the above examples of a younger lady and an older ladycase use your sister or your mother) and apply them to your reading. If the person is like no one else in your life, take the generalities in your life and use them.

These generalities work because we tend to take a positive generalization and make it true for us – just like it’s done in the daily horoscope.

What if they say no?

If the subject says no, a white door doesn’t mean anything to them. Say that it is a symbol for something that is important in their life. “I see the door and it’s closed. This means that for the time being what you are looking for life is not available to you. You’ll have to open the door yourself – find the key first.

What if I don’t get any images?
That’s highly unlikely. The mind doesn’t like a vacuum. Trust your intuition – it works. But if it really is the case, you can just make up an image.

Use something that has lots of ambiguous meanings. Things like a piece of paper, a book, a tree, a tall man can all have plenty of meanings attached to them, making you look like a star when you start interpreting them.

I’m seeing a piece of paper, in your possession. I can’t make out what it says on it…

As I’ve said, people will fill in the blanks themselves but it makes you look like a psychic genius.

If you do run out of things to say (but you won’t if you refer to this blog often), just tell them the object you are holding has gone cold and that you need a different object or even a different person to do a reading on.

Try it yourself now, grab any old object lying around, and….

“I see….

1. A big house.”
2. A knife.”
3. A dog.”
4. A phone book.”
5. A beach.”

The nice thing about using Psychometry is that you can do it anywhere, and if you’ve never tried it before, you’ll notice images and things to say will pop into your mind spontaneously.
